Grid Packer Tool
The Grid Packer tool builds an instant overview of several compositions at once. Select the comps you want, click the tool, and AE Sheets creates a new Master Showcase composition with all of them laid out in a tidy grid, perfect for reviewing every language version or variant of a project side by side.
Unlike the other rigging tools, Grid Packer works on the compositions selected in the Project Panel, not on layers in the active comp.
How to use
- In the Project Panel, select one or more compositions you want to include.
- In the Rigging Panel, click Grid Packer.
- A new Master Showcase composition is created and opened, with each selected comp added, scaled to 50%, and arranged in a grid.
What it does
- Each selected composition is placed at 50% scale so more fits on screen at once.
- The comps are arranged in a space-saving grid that wraps neatly onto new rows.
- The Master Showcase composition auto-sizes to fit its contents, so there's no empty canvas to trim.
- It's created right next to your selected comps, and its duration covers the longest comp in the selection.
Good to know
- Creating the showcase is a single undo step. Press Ctrl+Z (Windows) or Cmd+Z (Mac) to remove it all at once.
- If no composition is selected in the Project Panel, the tool prompts you to select at least one before it runs.
